Biography: Jon Collins was named the St Louis Globe-Democrat Player of the Year for his play as a senior at Cahokia. Collins was also named to the all-metro team selected by the St Louis Post-Dispatch and played for the Class AA South in the IBCA All-Star game. Collins attended Eastern Illinois University where he graduated as the no. 2 all-time career scorer with 1,702 points as well as the no. 3 and no. 6 season scorer with 631 (1986) and 558 (1985). He was an honorable mention Associated Press and a Sporting News All-American. Three times Collins was named the Panthers’ most valuable player. Twice Collins was named the AMCU player of the year and was the AMCU newcomer of the year in 1984. Collins was drafted in the fifth round by the Denver Nuggets of the NBA.
