Biography:  Sean Connor followed his career at Zeigler-Royalton High School where he was a four-year starter with three seasons as a letterman at The University of Notre Dame.  Few honors failed to come Connor’s way at Z-R HS after he averaged a career 23.4 ppg (1981-85).  Sean finished with 2,390 points to rank 24th on the all time Illinois career scoring list.  During the 1983-84 season, Sean was the state’s scoring leader with a 33.3 ppg average.  The 4-time Black Diamond choice set the Z-R individual game record of 61 points and the Carbondale Holiday single game mark of 52.

Twice the Black Diamond’s most valuable player, Sean was an all-state player for three years as well as all-Southern Illinois.  He was an honorable mention All-American for 2 seasons.  3 times he was named to the all-tourney teams in the Carbondale Holiday and Christopher Thanksgiving tournaments.  At Carbondale, he was the MVP in 1982.

In 1985, Connor was named the MVP of the IBCA Class A All Star game.  His jersey was retired by Zeigler-Royalton HS at the end of his senior season.
