Biography: Ron Eagan drove the Atwood Hammond basketball teams to games for 39 years. Even after he bought the bus company, Ron was still at the wheel for those games. During the financial crunch of the 1970’s-80’s, Ron drove the busses for a reduced rate of for free. This allowed the football and basketball programs to continue. He donated transportation to allow the baseball team to be reinstated.
For more than 25 years, Ron donated his time as the official timer at all boys’ basketball games. For road games, he kept the scorebook when needed. In 1988, Ron purchased and installed the square backboards for the gym. He donated money for football and basketball uniforms when the district was tight on funds. Many Atwood-Hammond players attended summer camps paid for by Ron’s donations. He assisted with practice gear and other extras that the basketball program needed. He fed the football and basketball teams at the end of the season for many years.
