Biography

Mark Edmundson scored 2,098 points and averaged 21 ppg during his four-year career at Arthur High School. He had 1,200 rebounds, 415 assists and 310 blocked shots from 1982-86. As a senior he averaged 24.6 ppgand 13.6 rpg and was a first-team IBCA all-state selection and a Chicago Sun-Times, Associated Press and United Press International all-stater. Edmundson was the Champaign News-Gazette and Mattoon Journal Player of the Year. He scored in double figures in all 78 games as a sophomore, junior and senior. Arthur recorded its best team in school history his senior year at 27-1. The team was 25-0 in the regular season and ranked 10th in the final AP and UPI polls.

Edmundson went on to a successful career at Illinois Wesleyan University as a four-year letterman along with three years on the golf team. He started his final three seasons and was co-captain and third-team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as a senior. He is a member of the Order of Titans for his academic accomplishments, athletic contributions and citizenship. At the time of his induction, his career ranks were fifth in games played (113), sixth in 3-pointers made (235), 13th in 3-point percentage (40.2), 16th in assists (279) and 36th in points (1,145). He ranks fifth in 3-pointers made in a season (79) and tied for second in 3-pointers made in a game (8).

Edmundson’s two stints as LeRoy High School’s head boys’ coach included the 2015-16 team that finished 25-8 and won the IHSA Class 1A state title.
