Biography: Jack Fabri is another of the Illinois high school basketball coaches to take teams from three different schools to the state tournament. In 19 years, his teams were 387-113. In 1941, Fabri’s (Springfield) Cathedral High School team defeated Springfield High School for the first time and won the city championship. The 27-4 club also made it to Huff Gymnasium for the IHSA Sweet Sixteen. Fabri’s 1945-46 Collinsville High School team, which included players Sam Miranda and J.D. Anderson, compiled a 30-10 record and made the IHSA state tournament. Fabri’s 1947-48 LaSalle-Peru High School team finished the regular season with a 5-16 record, but the Cavaliers, led by 5’5” Jack “flea ´Walsh, won their next five games before Pekin defeated them 50-46 in the first round of the tournament. Fabri also won 57 games in three seasons at (Decatur) Lakeview High School.
