Biography:
Gary Fraase became the scorekeeper or timer at Pleasant Plains High School in 1970. He served as the scorekeeper for the 2000 and 2001 IHSA Class A state championship boys’ teams. He also served as the school’s athletic director from 1977 until his retirement in 2003. The 1966 graduate of Pleasant Plains played basketball, baseball, track and cross country during his prep years.
Fraase coached junior high boys’ basketball for 24 years, baseball for 15 years and track for 13 years. He started the Pleasant Plains High School girls’ softball program in 1978 and had a 202-62 record with an IHSA Class A Elite Eight appearance in 1986. The school’s gym was named Gary Fraase Gymnasium in 2003 and he was a Sangamon County Friend of the County award winner in 2009.
