Biography:

Patti Froehlich established herself as one of the most dominant post players ever at Regina Dominican during the school’s successful years of 1984 and 1985. In 1984, Regina took third place in the IHSA Girls Class AA state tournament with a 44-42 win over Chicago Marshall. As a senior, Froehlich was Regina’s captain and MVP. She was selected to the all-Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) team, the Suburban All-Star team and the all-state team for the second year as Regina reached the Sweet 16. She played for the Class AA North in the IBCA All-Star Game and twice played in the Prairie State Games.

From 1985-89, Froehlich was a standout for the Cornell University women’s team. In 1988, Froehlich was all-Ivy League second team and the team MVP. As a senior, she made first-team all-Ivy and repeated as team MVP. Froehlich’s 1,194 career points rank 10th in program history and her 931 rebounds rank second. She also ranked No. 1 in field goal percentage for a career (.512) and season (.508). She was the winner of Cornell’s Anderson-Pfifer Leadership Award.

Froehlich was inducted into the Cornell University Hall of Fame in 1999 and is a member of the GCAC Hall of Fame. Her Regina Dominican 1983-84 team is in the IBCA Hall of Fame.
