BiographyDick Green, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, became a registered official in 1967, a recognized official for the 1971-72 season and a certified official the following season. His officiating ability found him being called to work 16 IHSA Regionals and 9 IHSA Sectionals. He was called on to handle the whistle in four super-sectionals. Three times Green officiated in the Elite Eight. His first assignment came in 1984 and was followed in 1985 and 1986. During the 1985 tournament, Green officiated the championship game. He also worked more than 80 holiday tournament games and 20 conference tournaments. With the increase in girls’ basketball, Green was assigned to 6 IHSA Regionals and 1 IHSA Sectional. Green’s officiating partner in many of his assignments, Tom Roland, was also inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame in 1991.
