Biography: Gene Hall is a veteran of 44 years in basketball as a player, junior high and high school coach, ending in retirement in June, 1972.  He was head basketball coach at Sterling Twp. High School for 25 years where his teams won 422 games and lost 251 for a 63 percentage winning percentage.  During his reign at Sterling, his teams won 3 North Central Conference championships, 14 IHSA regional tournament titles, 2 IHSA sectional tournament championships, and 6 IHSA sectional runners-up.  His teams made 2 trips to the state finals.  His 1970 team lost in the super sectional to eventual State Champion LaGrange Lyons.  His overall won-lost record as a head coach of both high school and junior high teams is  580-268.
