Biography: Laurie led the Illinois State University women’s sports program from a low profile recreation association to a major national program as Director of Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics from 1968-80. She was active in lobbying Congress for Title IX and opportunities for women in sports throughout her career.  Laurie was inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors Hall of Fame and the Women’s Institute on Sport and Education Hall of Fame. A banner hangs in her
honor at Redbird Arena.  The State of Illinois and our nation lost a true sports pioneer when Laurie Mabry passed away on October 16, 2015.
