Biography: Stan Donegan won acclaim as a basketball official rather quickly after donning a striped shirt in 1980. He officiated Thanksgiving tournaments at Hoffman Estates, Hinsdale Central, Downers Grove South, Naperville Central, Lockport, Rock Island, Sterling, Oswego, Arlington Heights St. Viator, Mundelein, Palatine Fremd, Chicago Kennedy-King, Elmhurst York, Elk Grove, St. Charles, Elgin Larkin, Rockford Boylan, Batavia, Naperville Neuqua Valley, Bartlett, Streamwood, Chicago Hales Franciscan and Elgin St. Edward.  Christmas Tournaments drawing his services include DeKalb, Elgin, Rockford, East Aurora, Palos Heights Stagg, Wheeling, Hillside Proviso West, Aurora Waubonsie Valley, Algonquin Jacobs, Elmhurst York, Frankfort Lincoln-Way, Chicago Whitney Young, Lemont, Chicago Luther North, Marengo and Plano.  It’s little wonder Donegan was asked to work “Hoops in the Loop” in 1990 and 1998, the Loyola Shootout from 1998-2001 and the Windy City Classic in 1999 and 2000. Donegan whistled the IBCA All-Star Game in 2000. A graduate of Freeport High School, University of Dubuque and Ohio University, Donegan worked Chicago Public League playoff games from 1983-86.  The IHSA called upon him for Class A Regionals beginning in 1992. Donegan officiated 17 Class AA regionals, 11 sectionals, nine sectional finals and six super-sectionals. He had the pleasure of working the AA state finals in 1997 and 1998.
