Biography: Charles E. Brown was a great outside shooter and one of the best rebounders ever developed in the Chicago Public League.  He led the 1954 DuSable High School Panthers. Teaming with Paxton Lumpkin and Shellie McMillon, “Sweet” Charlie Brown led DuSable to consecutive Public League titles in 1953 and 1954, leading the Panthers in scoring and rebounding.  A highly sought-after player, Charlie began his collegiate career at Indiana University.  After a year and a half, he transferred to Seattle University where in 1959 he was a consensus All-American player.  In 1958, he teamed with the legendary Elgin Baylor to lead Seattle to the NCAA championship game against Kentucky.  After his playing days, Charlie worked as the manager of community affairs for Jewel Food Stores.  In 1994, Charlie helped start the Windy City Shootout, a tournament for players who are 50+ years of age.
