Biography: The (Chicago) Mt. Carmel varsity basketball team was undefeated in 1944 with a record of 28-0 in the highly competitive Chicago area.  This team coached by John Tracy dominated its opponents throughout the year.  The pinnacle achievement was the winning of the 2nd Annual All City Championship Game against a team that had finished 3rd in the IHSA state finals.  Individually the team was unique in its era for its overall height and abilities.  Each starter was an all-around performer; each of them received individual citations for excellence.
