Biography:  Jack Hanvey was one of the great players from Collinsville High School, coached by Hall of Famer, Vergil Fletcher.  Jack was a three-year starter for the Kahoks.  As a sophomore and junior, Jack received Honorable Mention all-state acclaim.  As a senior in 1953, Jack was named to the Chicago Daily News all-state team.  Additionally, he was an all St. Louis district player, all Southwest Conference player, prep player of the week by St. Louis radio station, KXOK and a Quincy High School all-opponent.  Jack, who was the Kahok captain in 1953, ranked 15th on the all time scoring list at the time of his graduation.

Jack began his collegiate career at Murray State University but transferred after his freshman year.  He was a member of the Moberly(MO) Junior College NJCAA National Champions in 1955.

Jack Hanvey died on November 6, 2019 at the age of 84.
