Biography:
Forrest Harris worked at all levels of basketball during his 36 years as an official. He began his career at the Boys’ Club and went on to work games for the CYO Chicago Grammar School Public League, the Chicago Public League, YMCA and Chicago Catholic League.
He worked the 1971 Chicago City Championship Game and most of the Chicago Public League playoff games from 1966 until he retired in 1997. He also officiated games in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), the Missouri Valley Conference and the National Basketball Association.
Harris was a member of the Metropolitan Officials Association and served on its Board of Directors. He was an observer for the Chicago Public High School League. He was a Hall of Fame inductee for Chicago Wendell Phillips High School in 2000, the Metropolitan Officials Association in 1998, the Chicago Public Schools in 1997 and by the IBCA as a Friend of Basketball in 1997.
Forrest Harris died on April 22, 2019 at the age of 84.
