Biography:  Nate Hawthorne was another in a long list of great basketball players produced at Mount Vernon High School.  Nate was an all-state player for the Rams in 1968-69 when he led them to the quarterfinals of the state tournament.  

Following high school, Nate was a 3-year letterman at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale where he scored more than 1,000 career points.  He then played 3 seasons in the NBA for the Lakers and Suns.

Nate Hawthorne died on November 23, 2005 at the age of 54.
