Biography: 

Gene’s 17th Benet Academy team won the IHSA Class 4A state championship, finishing with a 33-5 record. His 421-108 record at Benet includes state runner-up finishes in 2014, 2016 and 2023.

Gene has coached the Redwings to 11 IHSA Regional championships, 6 IHSA Sectional titles and 4 super-sectional wins. His teams have produced 15 seasons of 20 or more wins and 10 years with 25-plus victories. Prior to Benet, he was head coach for three years at Nazareth Academy.
