BiographyAfter receiving degrees from Carthage College and the University of Illinois, Ron Hilt coached four high school sports from 1957-66. During the 1962-63 season, he began officiating recreation leagues, grammar school and freshman and junior varsity basketball games. Hilt worked his first four varsity games in 1964 along with a full schedule of other games. Hilt officiated his first full schedule of high school games in 1965, the same year he became a member of the Suburban Basketball Officials Association. During his officiating career, Hilt world in nearly every northern Illinois high school conference including: Suburban, West Suburban, North Suburban, SICA, Private League, Suburban Catholic, Fox Valley. He also officiated numerous Thanksgiving and Christmas tournaments at places like DeKalb and Proviso West. Before retiring from the striped shirt set in 1984, Hilt had worked IHSA Regionals for 13 years.
