Biography

Cal Hubbard posted a 520-342 varsity record in 35 seasons as a head coach. He was 363-170 in 18 years at Normal University High School, his alma mater, and the 1994-95 team won the IHSA Class A state championship with a 29-3 record. His 1991-92 team finished second in Class A at 29-4 and the 1996-97 team took third and set the school record for wins at 30-4.

Six of Hubbard’s teams made the IHSA Class A Elite Eight, seven reached IHSA Super-sectionals, seven won IHSA Sectional titles and 12 earned IHSA Regional championships. The Pioneers won 12 conference titles under Hubbard. He was the 1995 IBCA Coach of the Year and the head coach of the Class A North IBCA All-Stars in 1999. Hubbard also coached at Westmont High School (17-33), Rock Falls High School (78-99), Moline High School (16-33) and Lincoln (IL) High School (39-14). 

Hubbard was a successful golf coach for more than 20 years and led the U-High girls to three straight IHSA state titles from 2005-07 and two third-place trophies. In 2009, he took over the boys program as it won its seventh straight state title. He also coached baseball for six years.
