Biography:

Ken Hungate of Benton began officiating in 1958 as a high school senior at a sixth-grade county tournament. He became a licensed official in 1960 and ended his 44-year career in 2002 at the Black River Coliseum at Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He worked numerous holiday tournaments at Benton, Carbondale, Centralia, Century, Christopher, Crab Orchard, Eldorado, Freeburg, Gallatin County, Marion, Massac County, Nashville, Steelville, Vienna and Wayne City.

Hungate had the honor of officiating four IHSA state finals in Class A and Class AA from 1975-78, the Illinois State Community College finals in 1984, the IBCA All-Star Game in 1984 along with 2 IHSA Districts, 28 IHSA Regionals, 14 IHSA Sectionals and 7 IHSA Super-sectionals.
