BiographyBill Husek certainly compiled an enviable record as boys basketball coach at Roanoke-Benson Junior High School in his 31 years leading up to his induction in 2002. Husek’s teams presented him with a nice IBCA Hall of Fame induction present by winning the 7A Illinois Elementary School Association state championship that season.

It was R-B’s 12th IESA state appearance under Husek. R-B grabbed its share of hardware for Husek with five Final Four finishes. Husek’s teams also have two seconds and two fourths to go with the title trophy. Husek’s teams also won 16 conference championships, 19 regional titles and 12 sectional crowns.

Husek, a graduate of Chicago Mendel Catholic High School and Eastern Illinois University, earned seven IBCA District 12 boys Coach of the Year awards. He had a career record of 721-342 and retired after the 2002-03 season. The junior high gym in Benson is named after Bill Husek.
