Biography:  Lyle Johnson officiated basketball in Illinois for more than 40 years. The Williamsfield official grew  to become one of the mainstayles of the Peoria Area Officials Association. At the time of his induction, he had officiated 45 IHSA Regionals in Class A and Class AA along with 6 IHSA Sectionals.  Johnson officiated in 35 holiday tournaments along with more than 30 conference tournaments. Johnson officiated the IBCA All-Star games when they were held at Illinois State University.  Lyle was often known by his nickname, “Knute”.

Lyle Johnson died on August 5, 2009 at the age of 83.
