Biography:  Ewald “Kess” Kessler has been involved in basketball as an assistant coach for two years, a head basketball coach for 15 years (Wauconda, Leland, Morris) and as a scorekeeper for 27 years (Crystal Lake High School, Crystal Lake South High School and Crystal Lake Central High School). He was actively involved and actively supported the game for nearly 50 years. “Kess” continued his scorekeeping duties long after he retired at the age of 65 as guidance counselor at Crystal Lake South in 1981 after more than 40 years in education. At Crystal Lake South, Kessler not only was performing his duties at home games but also on the road. Crystal Lake coaches figure “Kess” only missed four games at the most while he served as scorekeeper. Ewald Kessler died on January 13, 2018 at the age of 102.
