Biography:
Don Kloth coached high school boys basketball in the state of Illinois for 50 years.  He served as the Head Varsity Boys’ Basketball  at  Zion Benton for 25 years. During his tenure as Head Coach from 1990 to 2014 the Zee Bees had an overall record of 528 wins and 221 losses.
His teams’ accomplishments included ; 7 Division Championships ( 5 Prairie Division, 2 Lakes Division-North Suburban), 8 Conference Championships ( North Suburban), 14 IHSA Regional Championships, 4 IHSA Sectional Championships , 1 IHSA Super-Sectional Championship (2008) and finished Second in the State Tournament Class Four A in 2008. His 1998 team went 30-2 and the 2008 team went 32-4. In addition Zion Benton finished first in 24 Holiday Tournaments during his tenure as head coach.
Coach Kloth received 8 District Coach of the Year Awards from the IBCA. Don has also been honored on the Zion Benton Wall of Achievement and the Coaches Corner at Zion Benton. He is a member of the Lake County Sports Hall of Fame. In 2008 Coach Kloth received the prestigious Mike Rose award from the Northern Officials Association.
Prior to becoming the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Zion- Benton Don served as the Head Freshman Coach for 6 years and Head Sophomore Coach for 10 years. After stepping down as the Head Varsity Coach at Zion in 2014 he has served as the Head Sophomore Boys’ Basketball Coach at Warren Township for the next 9 years. Kloth has over 1000 total wins during his coaching career in the state of Illinois and plans to continue coaching for as long as he can. “During my entire coaching career I have had the the great fortune of working with many outstanding assistant coaches and many great players”.
