Biography: Don Laketa started his coaching career in 1960 at Labette Community High School in Altamont, KS where he compiled a 47-29 record in four seasons.  Starting in 1964, Don coached sophomore and JV basketball at Homewood-Flossmoor High School before becoming the head boys’ coach for the 1972-73 season.  In 17 seasons there his teams had a 317-227 record.  His overall record for all levels was 448-257 in Illinois.  His teams won 2 Centralia Holiday Tournaments, 12 Thanksgiving Tournaments, 6 Conference titles, 9 IHSA Regional Crowns, 3 IHSA Sectional Titles.  His 1985 team finsihed 3rd in the state tournament.  Twice, Don was the IBCA District Coach of the Year and in 1988 coached the Class AA North in the IBCA All Star Game.
