Biography: 

Starting in 1980, John Morrisey was busy working the ticket gate or managing the concession stands for Charleston High School basketball and football games. In addition to his work at Charleston events, he served as treasurer for the Trojan Booster Club for 10 years.

Morrisey also helped park cars for Eastern Illinois University athletic events to raise money for the Trojans’ booster club. He took tickets for Eastern Illinois football and basketball games as well as IHSA state track meets. The ex-budget director at Eastern Illinois believed that sports and extracurricular activities helped kids develop skills and pride in their community.

Former Charleston basketball coach Steve Simons called Morrisey “one of the consistent performers at Charleston High School. His kids are long gone from high school, but John has continued to serve. That exemplifies his unselfishness.”

John Morrisey died on February 13, 2013 at the age of 80.
