Category: Friends of Basketball
Schools / Organizations:
Pekin Community High School
Biography:
Clair Park has scored far more points than any Pekin basketball player. He was the official scorer at Pekin Community High School for 20 years. He kept the book for freshman, sopohomore and varsity boys’ games. Additionally, Clair kept the book for the Pekin Holiday Tournament for 20 years. For the 6 years before his induction, Clair had also kept the scorebook for Illinois Central College men’s and women’s teams. In 1984, Park was chosen to serve as the IHSA Class AA assistant scorer. In 1985, he was chosen as the lead scorekeeper. For many years, Clair was the scorer for the IBCA All-Star Games. A testament to his honesty and integrity is the fact that his nomination to the Hall of Fame came from an opposing Mid State 9 coach.
Clair Park died on September 27, 2019 at the age of 89.
