Biography: 

Arthur had a record of 503-110 in 21 seasons as the girls’ head coach at (Chicago) Whitney Young High School. He served as head coach from 1980 to 2001, when health problems forced him to retire. He died in February, 2004.

Arthur guided Whitney Young to the 1995 IHSA Elite Eight in an era in which only one Chicago Public League school advanced to the state finals. His teams played in the Chicago City championship game nine times and he coached three consensus high school All-Americans.
