Biography: Pat Rafferty coached high school basketball in Illinois for 28 years with stops at Nobel, Payson-Seymour, Macomb, Avon and Camp Point Central. Rafferty attended Wabash Valley College and played basketball and baseball and Eastern Illinois and ran track. He always prided himself and gained satisfaction in going to programs and building them up.  “I gained a lot of satisfaction by watching the programs make progress,” Rafferty said.  Rafftery’s teams posted an overall mark of 460-338. Two regional titles at Payson-Seymour were the first for the school and Camp Point’s in 1995-96 was the only one for the school. Visiting Payson-Seymour beat Quincy Notre Dame twice on its home floor in 1986-87, something the school had never accomplished before.  His teams won holiday tournaments at Augusta Southeastern, Wayne City, Industry, Macomb and the Midland Trails Conference tourney. Nathan Yeomans from his 1995-96 team earned all-state honors and IBCA choices Rick Hedes and Merv Joseph played at Southern Indiana and Eastern Illinois.  Rafferty coached the Class A South squad in the 2001 IBCA All-Star Game. He also coached John Wood Community College’s women’s team.
