Biography: Ken Redfield was a three-time all-Chicago Catholic League selection at Weber High School and the CCL Player of the Year as a senior in 1986 as he averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds a game. Redfield scored more than 1,000 career points with a career-high 39 against Westinghouse in 1985. He was a Chicago Sun-Times all-state selection before taking his game to Michigan State.
He finished his career with the Spartans with 1,212 points (tied for 31st in school history as of 2021) and had 625 rebounds and 314 assists. Redfield was the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year and led the Spartans in rebounds for the 1990 NCAA Tournament qualifier. Twice he was named the team’s best defensive player and as a two-time co-captain he started every game during his last two seasons as the Spartans went 46-21.
Redfield finished with career averages of 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds a game and shot 49.3 percent from the field. He signed with the Bulls as a free agent and played professionally in Europe and the CBA.
