Biography:

John Spezia had compiled a 394-309 record in 21 years as the head men’s basketball coach at Danville Area Community College at the time of his induction. His 1991 team won the NJCAA Division II national title and he took five other teams to the national tournament. He was named NJCAA District V Coach of the Year six times, NJCAA National Coach of the Year in 1991 and NJCAA Basketball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in 2000. John served as an assistant coach for the USA Basketball Olympic Festival in 1994 and was head coach for the NJCAA All-Star game. He was named IBCA Coach of the Year in 1991.

John’s teams placed among the top eight in the country six times. He won 22 tournament championships, two conference titles, six regionals and one sectional title. He also has served as Vice President and President of the NJCAA Coaches Association. John was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Danville Area Community College Hall of Fame in 2008.
