Biography: Don Strumillo was an All-Des Plaines Valley player in the 1975-76 season when he led the conference in scoring with 23.9 ppg average. The co-captain of Morton East scored 79 points in three games at the Lake Forest Thanksgiving Tournament and set the one-game record of 35.  In the Proviso West Christmas Tournament, Stumillo set a one-game mark of 50 points and led the tourney in scoring when he set the three-game mark of 100 points. Strumillo made 32 of 34 free throws and was named all-tourney and its most valuable player. Strumillo set the Morton East season record with 673 points in 26 games for a 25.9 ppg average. Twice Strumillo was the most valuable player for Morton East. He was named to the IBCA All-State team and was accorded special mention awards. Strumillo played 1977 and 1978 for the College of DuPage, the no. 1 ranked junior college team in the nation. At Quincy College in 1979 and 80, Strumillo played for Sherill Hanks and set the record for highest free throw percentage for a season (87%) and for a career (86%). Strumillo and Quincy College reached  the NAIA Tournament in Kansas City in 1980. Strumillo graduated from Quincy with high academic honors and received the Bonaventure Award for Academic Excellence. Strumillo graduated from Notre Dame Law School with honors. While at Notre Dame, Strumillo joined four other potential lawyers to win the country’s most prestigious intramural basketball tourney, “The Bookstore Tournament” and was named to the all-star team.
