Biography: Harold (Hal)Summers had an illustrious high school playing career at Lawrenceville High School. He was an All North Egypt Conference Player for four years and ranked in the top three conference scorers each year. Hal played in 127 straight games and was named as an all-tournament player in every tournament he played. Hal played his college ball for legendary coach Branch McCracken at Indiana University from 1948-52. His record as a coach at Rantoul’s Eater Junior High School is very impressive. In 21 seasons leading up to his 1979 Hall of Fame induction, Summer’s teams posted 578 wins against only 167 losses. In state competition, Eater competed 19 times under Hal’s guidance. They won the IESA State Title 4 times, finished 2nd three times, finished in 3rd place one time and finished one time in 4th place. Those teams went 34-14 in state play. In three seasons at St. Francisville High School, Hal’s teams were 64-23.
