2024 IBCA Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony
The 1973 HOF Banners are from the Charter Class – 1973 & the present class 2024. You can walk all the way around the arena and see the 52 years of HOF Classes.
Dee Brown received his COY Award (Led Chicago Roosevelt University to 25 wins) and HOF Plaque for his outstanding play at Proviso East High School and the University of Illinois.
Attending the COY Luncheon were two legendary coaches Dave Bennett (Pittsfield High School) and Lee Bennett (Centralia High School) Dave is retired and won 527 games, Lee is still coaching and has 673 wins for a total of Father & Son 1200 victories.

IBCA Coach of the Year Luncheon Honors Top Coaches
On May 4, the IBCA held its annual Coach of the Year Luncheon at CEFCU Arena on the campus of Illinois State University. The event celebrated the best coaching accomplishments of the past year and recognized the winners for their exceptional leadership.
Mr. and Ms. Basketball Address IBCA Luncheon Attendees
Attendees were treated to inspiring comments from this year’s Mr. and Ms. Basketball, Morez Johnson, Jr. of Harvey Thornton HS, and Kloe Froebe of Lincoln HS. They shared what these prestigious awards meant to them, adding a personal touch to the event. The IBCA is proud to continue its partnership with the Chicago Tribune to sponsor this esteemed program.

The luncheon concluded with motivational remarks from Dee Brown, a former player for the University of Illinois and the current Head Men’s Coach at Roosevelt University. His speech left a lasting impression on the audience.
Social Gathering Connects Coaches and Hall of Fame Members
After the luncheon, the Coaches of the Year stayed for a social gathering, where they were joined by members of the IBCA Hall of Fame who arrived early for the evening’s Hall of Fame ceremonies.
IBCA Hall of Fame Induction Welcomes Over 100 New Members
At the evening banquet, over 100 new inductees, including 10 outstanding teams, were warmly welcomed into the Hall of Fame, each one a testament to their remarkable contributions to Illinois basketball.
Outstanding Achievements Recognized at Hall of Fame Banquet
The Hall of Fame inductees were selected in various categories: Teams, Officials, Media, Friends of Basketball, Career Coaches (primarily assistant coaches), Coaches, and Players.
Organizations of the Year Awarded for Contributions to Illinois Basketball
Three Organizations of the Year were proudly recognized for their significant and invaluable contributions to Illinois basketball: The Chicago Public League, The Northern Illinois Conference (NIC-10), and the West Suburban Conference.
Lifetime Awards Presented to Illinois Basketball Legends
Three lifetime awards were presented to notable individuals who significantly impacted Illinois basketball. The Derril Kipp Award for Courage was given to Mr. Chuck Ingram of Harrisburg, Cumberland, and Bridgeport High Schools. The Rich and Ron Herrin Award for reshaping Illinois Basketball was awarded to Coach Thom Sigel of Rock Island and Rock Falls High Schools. Finally, the Chuck Rolinski Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Coach Mark Kleemann of Peoria Spalding, Quincy University, and Oak Lawn High School.
