Biography: In 22 years of coaching, Ed Hilbert won seven conference titles at Reno, Trenton, and Highland High Schools.  His overall record was 383-251.  His last seven teams all achieved 20 wins.  Twice, his Highland teams went to the state tournament—1953 and 1958.  During a stretch from 1954 to 1957 Highland produced a 34-game home winning streak which stood until broken by (Lisle) Benet Academy in the 1980’s.  For 12 seasons Hilbert also served as an IHSA basketball official.
