Biography: Edward O’Farrell was a 1926 graduate of (Chicago) DeLaSalle High School where he lettered in basketball. He later came back to his home city where his teams won more than 400 games during a career at Chicago’s Parker High School and Harlan High School. He produced Chicago Public League Champions on the junior level in 1944 (with Woody Holmes), and senior level in 1951. The 1951 team competed in the IHSA State Tournament at Huff Gym. Parker seniors won South Section titles four times, the juniors six times. In addition, O’Farrell coached Harlan during its first basketball season to an undefeated league and section title in 1961. The Parker juniors were 53-3 from 1940-46 in league play. Ed O’Farrell passed away on July 29, 1988 at the age of 78.
