Biography:

This is the story of the “Rock Island Line,” a line of five tremendous Rock Island High School fans. Paul and Marilyn Wendland began on the Rock Island High School Booster Club Board of Directors in 1974. They first bought their season tickets in 1951. Paul was the scorekeeper for out of town games, missing only 2 in the last 18 years, leading to their inductions.

Dick and Elaine Black joined “the Line” a few years later as this group formed a friendship that revolved around Rock Island basketball.  Dick Black died on May 24, 2016 at the age of 87.  Elaine Black died on April 8, 2015 at the age of 80.

Carl “Zeke” Zwicker was the other member of the “Line”.

Rock Island fans must fall in behind the “Rock Island Line” when it comes to personal support of Rock’s basketball.  Their legacies are still felt today.
