Biography:
Don Musgrove was a talented basketball player at Warrensburg-Latham High School who went on to earn two letters while playing for Eureka College. In 1978, he became an important part of Niantic-Harristown basketball when he started coaching fourth and fifth grade boys’ and girls’ basketball.
Musgrove took on additional duties in 1982 when he began keeping score for the junior high. Three years later he became scorekeeper for all Niantic-Harristown High School boys’ basketball games. When Niantic-Harristown added girls’ basketball, Musgrove took on the scorekeeping tasks for all games from 1985-88. After that he continued to score the girls’ home games.
Musgrove was a familiar face to central Illinois basketball fans for many years while working with well-known officials, who along with coaches, will attest to his ability to coordinate a game. He ranks with the best in the area. Don can be seen at games even if his beloved Indians weren’t playing. Although he scored nearly 800 games at the time of his induction, Musgrove found time to be a University of Illinois women’s basketball season ticket holder.
