Biography: At the time of his induction, Wendell had just completed his fourth year as boys’ head basketball coach at Cobden High School. His 26-year coaching career includes 14 seasons at DuQuoin High School and four each at Newton and Patoka High Schools.  Wendell guided Cobden to a 22-9 record in 2021-22, winning the Appleknockers’ first regional title since their imporbable run to the state championship game in 1964.  His teams have an 85-28 mark in four years at the school. His career record stands at 432-323. Overall, Wendell-coached teams have won seven IHSA Regional titles, eight conference championships and five holiday tournament crowns.
