Biography: After a great career at (Chicago) McKinley HS, Leon Hillard joined the Harlem Globetrotters and amazed the world with his clever dribbling and ball handling at the age of 19. Regarded as one of the top dribblers of all time, Leon was also a premier showman. For nearly twenty years he served both as player and a coach for the Globetrotters. He traveled to 89 countries serving as an ambassador of good will and entertaining spectators around the world. Leon came back to Chicago as the athletic director at CAM Academy. He was a renowned youth worker in his capacity as an executive director with the Abe Saperstein Foundation. Leon Hillard passed away on March 14, 1977.
