Biography: Harv Schmidt was an All-State player from Kankakee HS.  In 1952-53 Harv held the highest per game average for the state.  He attended the University of Illinois and captained the Illini in the 56-57 season; he was also the eam’s MVP for that year.  He played professionally for the Denver-Chicago Trucking Co. and was the league’s Rookie of the Year in 1957-58.  Harv returned to his alma mater, leading the Illini from 1967-74 with an overall record of 89-77.  Harv Schmidt died on April 7, 2020.
