Biography: Jay was a standout player at East Aurora High School, graduating in 1985. He earned a scholarship to Eastern Illinois and scored 1,926 points, second-most in school history at the time of his graduation.  Jay was the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year in 1989 and was voted one of the 10 best players in EIU history. Tragically, he died in a fire at age 30 in 1998, a year prior to his induction into the EIU Athletic Hall of Fame.
