Biography: Charles “Chico” Vaughn was an All-State Player from Central High School in Tamms where he set an all time Illinois scoring record with 3300 points (note:  There was no 3 point basket at that time).  At Southern Illinois University he was twice selected as an All American player.  “Chico” played professionally for the Hawks, Pistons, and Pipers of the NBA.  Later, he was the director of recreation for the mentally handicapped in Sterling, IL.  “Chico” Vaughn passed away on October, 25, 2013.
