Biography: Ed “Moose” Krause was one of the all time great players to come out of the Chicago Catholic League.  He was an all city and all state player for DeLaSalle HS and led them to the National Catholic Championship in 1929-30.  Ed went on to the University of Notre Dame where he became an All-American player in 1931, 1932, and 1933.  He lettered in four sports for the Irish.  Krause served as the head basketball coach at Saint Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota, (now St. Mary’s University) from 1934 to 1939, at The College of the Holy Cross from 1939 to 1942, and at Notre Dame from 1943 to 1944 and 1946 to 1951, compiling a career coaching record of 155–114. He was Notre Dame’s athletic director from 1949 to 1981. Krause was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1976 and The College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.  Ed was previously selected to the Helms Foundation All Time All American Team.  Ed Krause passed away on December 11, 1992
