Biography: Gil Blankenship, of Newark, officiated high school basketball for 20+ seasons in Illinois. Among his assignments have been 10 regionals. Holiday tournament fans at Minooka, Peotone, St. Charles, Pontiac, East Aurora and DeKalb have heard his whistle. Blankenship also officiated Conference tourneys for the Black Hawk Valley, Mid-State Eight, Illinois Valley, Little Ten, Fox Valley and Illini Eight. Gil was considered as one of the finest officials in Central Illinois and was highly respected by both fans and officials.  Gil died on April 21, 2012.
