Biography: Joey was a sportswriter for 26 years for The Paducah Sun before his tragic death in 2013 from a heart attack on his 46th birthday.  He covered high school basketball and worked for numerous freelance publications in southern Illinois.  Joey also helped develop the Massac County Superman Classic and the Marshall county Hoopfest into nationally renowned high school basketball tournaments.  He had a tremendous rapport with the coaches and athletes that he covered.
