Biography: Buford Green served as sports editor of the Jacksonville Journal-Courier for 40 years, becoming its managing editor. He also was a contributing reporter to the State Journal-Register.  Green was a member of the Associated Press Basketball Ratings Panel and All-State Selection Board for many years. He was a founding committee member for both the Jacksonville High School and Illinois College Sports Hall of Fame. Green was a co-founder of the West Central Illinois All-Star Basketball Classic and has earned the Illinois High School Association Distinguished Service Award.  He is a 2012 inductee into the Illinois College Hall of Fame.
