Biography: John R. Dowling’s association with high school basketball was in several capacities.  He served 4 years as Armstrong Grade School basketball coach, 4 years as Crescent-Iroquois High School coach, Watseka High School principal for 13 years, part-time sports announcer and host of a coach’s show for Watseka radio station WGFA for 8 years and as a member of the Illinois High School Association Board.  John was a member of the IHSA Legislative Commission from 1974-76 and on the IHSA board from 1976-84.  He served as secretary from 1977-79, vice-president from 1979-83 and president from 1983-84.  John R. Dowling died on June 17, 2018 at the age of 84.
