Biography: Jeff qualifies as a “fixture” at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Middle School. His entire 34 -year teaching career at the school also included coaching basketball.  Jeff was the eighth-grade boys basketball coach from 1979-1999. Then, from 1999-2013, he served as the seventh-grade girls coach. Jeff’s teams won 394 games, reaching the Sweet Sixteen twice and Elite Eight once. Today, the most outstanding eighth-grade student-athlete at GCMS receives the Jeff Elder Award each year.
