Biography: Gary had coached high school boys’ basketball in Illinois for 20 seasons.  Stops on the Croegaert trail included Malta High School, (Elgin) St. Edward High School, LaMoille High School and Amboy High School.  His overall record was 345-163.  During his 15 year stint at Amboy, the Clippers won 264 games, an average of nearly 16 wins/season.  7 times Amboy was ranked in the AP polls.  7 times the Clippers won IHSA Regional titles.  4 times they won the Three Rivers Conference Championship.  Gary was an original member of the IBCA and served on its board beginning in 1977 through his induction.  He founded the Clipper Backers, the Amboy Booster Club and originated the Amboy Hall of Fame.  He also was instrumental in the founding of the Dixon Telegraph  All Star Basketball games in 1984.
